Antique Ivory & Bone 20th C Stem Cups, India or S. Africa
Appraisal description: Measurements: Height 5 inches. Carved in separate sections, the long, narrow stem supports a spherical cup with a long trumpet-shaped top. the cups, which are decorated in pierced and brown-colored stenciled fashion with floral and dot design, are thinly carved. The spherical portion appears to be ivory. The pieces appear to be of the Indian or South Asian origin and appear to date from the 20th Century. They are of fine quality. The fine condition and the workmanship were taken into account. 2001 appraisal value $550 by Elisabeth Weikert Douglas, The China Coast, Austin, TX. J.D.
